New tank series requires less installation space
Drive and control technologies specialist Bosch Rexroth introduced its TMSx hydraulic tank last month, which is specially designed for application in rotary drives, such as hydrostatic traction, fan, generator or compressor drives in railway vehicles, where space is limited.
The company notes that, as technology improves, engineers are increasingly struggling to fit new features into unchanged dimensions for railway vehicles. The developers of Bosch Rexroth’s new TMSx hydraulic tank have, thus, produced a compact design with a diameter of just 330 mm and a height of 480 mm. The new oil tank complies with all relevant standards of the European railway industry and offers an uncomplicated and versatile solution, says Bosch Rexroth.
A cyclone spiral guarantees highly favourable degassing behaviour of hydraulic fluids and its functional capability has been verified at flows of up to 350 ∙/min. The TMSx-16 frame size has a filling volume of just 10.6 ∙ and can be used for applications with a system volume of up to 70 ∙. Moreover, less oil is required for each oil exchange, which saves resources and enables reduced life cycle costs.
The reservoir is made of steel and offers various options for monitoring the level of the fluid. Medium temperatures of between –30 °C and 90 °C are admissible.
The TMSx tank series extends Bosch Rexroth’s modular system solutions, which comprise pumps, motors, hydraulic blocks, valve technology and radio control systems for railway vehicles.
Bosch Rexroth offers hydraulics, electric drives and controls, gear technology, and linear motion and assembly technology, with distribution centres in over 80 countries. Its hydraulic products are supplied in South Africa exclusively by hydraulic solutions provider Hytec, while drive technology supplier Tectra Automation is the sole distributor of its automation and pneumatic products in the country.
