Aftermarket specialists Transportation Components is aiming to double its capacity after being awarded a contract to supply truck-body manufacturer Henred Fruehauf with Duroline frictional material brake liners.

The agreement, signed last month, was approved after Henred Fruehauf axles, fitted with Duroline frictional material brake liners, were sent for various stages of testing and approval by the South African Bureau of Standards. Only then was the brand accepted as the original part of preference by Henred Fruehauf.

Henred Fruehauf will use the Duroline brake linings in the foundation brakes for the trailers they manufacture, which means Transportation Components is not only pleased to have Henred Fruehauf back as a valued customer, but they are also supplying not only the aftermarket but an original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) itself.

Duroline is recognised globally as one of the largest manufacturers of friction material and uses advanced technology to produce brake linings for medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The company is known for supplying brake linings which offer greater performance and durability.

The return of Henred Fruehauf to its customer base is an endorsement for its principal Duroline, but also for Transportation Components’ commitment to South Africa’s heavy transportation sector through its consistently supplying quality products from the US and Europe.

“We not only provide quality components to the aftermarket – and now also to a well-known OEM – but also safety and peace of mind,” explains Transportation Components sales manager Patrick Bruinette.

“We really appreciate the trust Henred Fruehauf is placing in us again; not only by depending on us for brake linings that will be used in the manufacture of their trailers, but as a well-known OEM making use of our OEM components in turn. This places us in a different league and completes the circle of quality, safety and consistency from our perspective,” says Transportation Components director Andre Gouws.

The Duroline range of brake liners, supplied by Transportation Components, is between 30% and 50% more durable than most competitors’ products in the premium sector, says Bruinette. The liners are manufactured using patented wave technology, which ensures that only virgin material comes into contact with the brake drum surface. The recycled material is confined to the area of the lining under the rivet head, which allows for a stronger more reliable base, ensuring that cracks from the rivet holes are reduced.

This technology has proven itself in terms of quality and safety, which is part of Transportation Components operational ethos.

“We aim to supply our customers with well-priced aftermarket products that have been made on par with OEMs’ specifications or better,” advises Gouws.
