An academic conference WindAc Africa will, for the first time, be held alongside the South African Wind Energy Association’s (Sawea’s) yearly Windaba conference in Cape Town.

“Increasingly, we received high-quality presentation submissions for Windaba that would fit in an academic conference. Therefore, there is excitement about an academic sister event where these can be given exposure,” Sawea CEO Johan van den Berg explained.

WindAc, which would offer a platform for an international academic exchange on a broad spectrum of research topics in wind power, including technical, environmental, socioeconomic and policy subjects, would be held on October 31 and November 1.

This would be followed by Windaba on November 2 and 3.

The theme for both conferences this year would be ‘Towards 100% renewables’.
