JSE-listed global industrial company Barloworld has appointed Neo Dongwana as independent chairperson following her endorsement by shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting (AGM).

She is the first woman to chair the board in the company’s 118 years of existence, and takes over from Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza, who has been a member of the Barloworld board for over twenty years, and chairperson for 12.

Dongwana has served on the Barloworld board since May 2012, and currently also serves as a nonexecutive director of Mpact and Nedbank.

She is also a member of the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) Tribunal.
