Mondi to acquire US industrial bags business for $105m
Packaging and paper group Mondi will acquire the industrial bags and kraft paper business of US-based Graphic Packaging International for $105-million.
The business’ production base comprises an integrated 135 000 t/y kraft paper mill in Arkansas, as well as nine bags plants across the US.
“The combination of the business with Mondi’s existing network will create a leading bags player in North America and expand the group’s growing global footprint in this market,” commented Mondi Group CEO David Hathorn.
Mondi has 36 industrial bags plants in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, South-East Asia and North America, including four plants in Mexico and the US, as well as five kraft paper mills in Europe.
