Megafertiliser manufacturing plant project, Tanzania.

Client
Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC). A consortium led by German company Ferrostaal Industrial Projects, comprising Pakistani company Fauji Fertiliser Company and Denmark-based Haldor Topsoe, will build the plant.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a fertiliser production plant with a capacity of 1.3-million tonnes of fertiliser a year at Kilamko, in the Lidi region of southern Tanzania, where port facilities and connections to the natural gas grid will be available.

The project will use natural gas to produce fertiliser.

An estimated 5 000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created.

Value
The project is estimated at more than $1-billion.

Duration
The project is expected to be commissioned in 2020 and be fully operational by 2021.
