Former Afrox MD Brett Kimber has been appointed chairperson of JSE-listed Renergen, a special purpose acquisition company focused on the alternative and renewable-energy sectors in sub-Saharan Africa.

Kimber, who holds a BSc Hons in geochemistry, resigned as Afrox MD in January, ending a 25-year career within the broader Linde Group, of which Afrox is a member company.

“I’m delighted to welcome Brett to our board . . . [and look forward to tapping] into his unique understanding of the energy markets in Africa and around the world, as we embark on our growth path in alternative and renewable energy in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa,” commented CEO Stefano Marani.

Renergen listed on the AltX earlier this month.
