Project Description
The project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of the water supply system for the town of Kasungu.
Other activities planned include the construction of two reinforced-concrete clarifier tanks, a reinforced-concrete rapid sand filter, the removal of existing surface pumps, and the supply and installation of six new surface pumps.

The value of the project has not been disclosed.
The project will be financed by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Fund, as part of the National Water Development Programme, which is being implemented across Malawi with donor funding.

The CRWB invited potential bidders interested in the rehabilitation and expansion of the Kasungu water system, in late May. The bidders were required to show expertise particularly in the laying of at least 10 km of the water pipelines of up to 400 mm in diameter, the supply and installation of at least three water pumpstations and the construction of at least three 100-m3-capacity water tanks.
