Name and Location
Jubilee oilfield phase 1 development, Ghana.

Project Description
The project involves the first-phase development of the Jubilee oilfield and includes the drilling of 17 wells (nine production wells, five water injection wells and three gas injection wells).

Subsea production installations and the leasing of a floating, production, storage and offtake vessel are expected to deliver a plateau oil rate of 120 000 bbl/d, water injection capacity of 230 000 bbl/d of water, and gas export and injection capacity of up to 160-million standard cubic feet a day.

The Jubilee oilfield has proven reserves of over 300-million barrels of recoverable oil, making it West Africa’s largest offshore deep-water discovery in over a decade.

This should increase as the field is further developed and more reserves are proven.

Value
The project is estimated at $3,2-billion.

Duration
The field expects to see delivery of first oil in the second half of 2010.

Client
Tullow Oil.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
Partner interests are Kosmos Energy (23,5%), Anadarko Petroleum (deep-water producer) (23,5%), Sabre Oil & Gas (2,8%), EO Group (1,75%), and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) (13,75%).

Latest Developments
Nigerian energy solutions provider Oando has been selected as the lead developer in a $1-billion project to develop offshore and onshore high-pressure gas transmission pipelines, a processing facility, storage tanks for liquefied petroleum gas and condensate, and other ancillary structures, for the Jubilee oilfield.

The infrastructure will allow for the processing of natural gas as fuel for existing power plants at Effasu and Takoradi, in the Western region of Ghana, as well as for the sale of natural gas and derivatives to both domestic and international markets.

On Budget and on Time?
Not stated.
