Infrastructure products manufacturer, Infrastructure Specialist Group (ISG) has been awarded a Golden Award in the Business Corporate and Listed Companies Category of the Business of the Year Awards by the Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ROCCI) and First National Bank for continuously and successfully adding value to the economy and the industries in which it operates.

“We are extremely proud to have won this prestigious ROCCI Business of the Year 2015 Award. The fact that we were presented with this award indicates that our work is recognised by the industry, which is something our staff can be proud of,” says ISG marketing and communications manager Guinevere Thomas.

“Credit should be given to our staff, who have invested in hard work and dedication during 2015, which resulted in us being honoured with this award,” comments Thomas.

ISG is well established through its three subsidiaries –Rocla, which manufactures precast concrete products, clay brick manufacturer Ocon Brick and concrete product manufacturer Technicrete ISG. However, receiving recog- nition for its expertise, service excellence and innovative technologies is not being taken for granted, she says.

The group’s future aims are in line with its growth strategy that will focus on market expansions, performance and safety improvements.

Technicrete’s footprint in Gauteng has expanded with its acquisition of a major competitor, Cast Industries in July 2015. This acquisition has increased Technicrete’s market share within the paving market, as well as its customer base and augmented its production capabilities. With the increase in production capacity, Technicrete will be able to satisfy market demand, and service existing and future customer needs.

Meanwhile, safety remains a priority for the group. By entrenching safe behaviour through its stop, think, act philosophy, ISG is able to achieve zero harm in the workplace and to remain a leader in safety in the industry. The company ensures that it continuously strives to enforce zero tolerance towards accidents in the workplace, as well as high-quality stan- dards on all its products.

With over 25 factories and 2 169 employees across South Africa, ISG is a well-known manu- facturer of precast concrete products in the infrastructure, construction and mining markets in South Africa and surrounding countries. It has recently completed numerous projects, including the upgrading of DSTV City, the construction of the Netcare Pholoso Hospital and the construction of the Newtown City Lodge.

Future projects include renovations at the East Rand Mall, as well as the construction of Phase 2 of the Vaal Mall’s expansion; the 309 Waterfall Wilds apartments, Waterfall Village, in Midrand; and the completion of 148 840 m of jacked pipeline in Hammanskraal.
