Europe’s industry association for indoor climate, process cooling, and food cold chain technologies Eurovent took the decision, in June, during its 2016 annual meeting in Verona, Northern Italy, to strengthen its activities in the residential ventilation area.

As a first measure, a product group dedicated to residential air handling units is going to be launched, building upon Eurovent’s long-term experiences and large manufacturing base in this product field. A highly experienced project manager has been engaged to take on this activity.

Against the background of an increasing amount of legislation on residential ventilation, for example, the European ventilation unit legislation, conflicting national requirements and a consequent need for an advanced and truly European approach on this subject, Eurovent members from more than 20 countries have jointly decided to strengthen activities related to residential ventilation. The new product group ‘Residential air handling units’ will hold its first meeting during the upcoming Eurovent Summit in Krakow, Poland, on September 29.

“For decades, Eurovent has been globally known for its work related to air handling units. It has proactively shaped standards and legislation in this field and currently counts more than 120 air handling unit manufacturers from Europe and the Middle East as its members,” states Eurovent president Alex Rasmussen.

“The company wants to build upon this fundament and experience, and bring residential ventilation forward in accordance with its new key principles. The company does so in close cooperation with our partner association the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning,” he continues.

Residential air handling units has engaged Igor Sikonczyk as a project manager. He will follow the decisions taken by participating manufacturers. Sikonczyk holds more than ten years of residential ventilation experience as building consultant as well as product and research and development manager at leading European manufacturers.

Eurovent Summit Event

In June, the Eurovent association published the programme for its Eurovent innovation hub, which is taking place on September 29, and constitutes the flagship event of the 2016 Eurovent summit in Krakow.

The innovation hub will host leading industry personalities to present visions and ideals through keynote presentations. The event follows Eurovent’s lead ideal of ‘Thinking beyond heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)’. It will be cohosted by global measurement and controlling devices manufacturer WIKA, the industry leader of the 2016 Eurovent Summit.

The event commences with a keynote by refrigeration company EPTA group MD William Pagani, who will elaborate on the future of commercial refrigeration. He will be followed by air filters and clean air solutions provider Camfil MD Anders Freyschuss, who will visualise ‘Particles that matter’. Climate control services provider Hitecsa MD Guillermo Rosenberg will explain to summit visitors how he reinvented the ‘Made in Europe’ business model. The keynotes will be concluded with cooling system company WITT Kältemaschinenfabrik MD Monika Witt, who will provide an outlook on a ‘natural future’.

“It has become increasingly important for the company’s members to think beyond HVAC, following a 360-degree approach that does not only take into account the latest technologies or legislative developments, but also issues such as global relations, environmental aspects, and information technology revolutions. The 2016 Eurovent Summit aims to provide visitors with more than just technical meetings and seminars. In fact, the company’s flagship events will stimulate visionary ideas and will highlight out-of-the-box approaches,” states Eurovent international director Morten Schmelzer.
