Huawei, the leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, and AC Milan have announced a sponsorship agreement during a recent press conference held at “Sala dei Trofei” inside the football club’s headquarters in Milan.

With the signing, Huawei becomes the Mobile Partner of the AC Milan team, and therefore, in recognition of the technological excellence of its products, supplier of communication solutions for the football club. George Zhao, CEO Huawei Italy, Daniele De Grandis, Executive Director Huawei Device Italy, Adriano Galliani, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director AC Milan, and Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro, former players and official ambassadors of AC Milan, attended the signing.

The sponsorship, born from the affinity between the global leadership of Huawei in telecommunications and that of the most successful football club in the world, aims to create synergies between the respective brands. This includes using AC Milan’s brand and the players for communication and promotion activities in Italy and abroad.

"It’s a great honour for AC Milan to be chosen by aglobal giant like Huawei to implement its development and market strategies," said Adriano Galliani, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director,AC Milan. "We have signed a three year agreement that will allow us to jointly plan and develop a number of business and consumeractivities. The agreement with Huawei will offer great business opportunities in the Chinese market and I am confident that this partnershipwill give the two of us mutual satisfaction."

"After the great success of the 2011 Super Cup sponsorship in Beijing, today we are excited to continue our partnership with AC Milan, a recognised football leader that perfectly matches our goal of gaining the leadership within the consumer market," said George Zhao, CEO, Huawei Italy.

Having started as a telecommunication technologies and equipment supplier, Huawei has gradually moved towards the consumer world offering a wide range of mobile devices and connectivity products.

"In Africa, football is the one language that everyone speaks and we are excited about this opportunity which will help to expand our brand presence on the continent, and bring our products to a wider target of consumers," said Peter Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Device: Eastern and Southern Africa Region. “We are also proud to link our brand to AC Milan, a football team with outstanding performances that well represents our high-tech and high-performance products such as the Huawei Ascend P6, one of the thinnest smartphones in the world."
