Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 110 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant. This will be the country’s first gas-fired combined-cycle power plant and, when completed, it will meet about 20% of domestic power demand.
Value
The contract is valued at about ¥17-billion, which will be covered by yen-denominated loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Duration
Construction is expected to start this year, with handover of the plant expected in 2018.
Latest Developments
Sumitomo Corporation and IHI Corporation have concluded a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with EDM for the construction of the power plant.
IHI will compile a power generation package for the power plant using world-class 40 MW aero-derivative LM6000 gas turbines, developed and manufactured by General Electric with IHI’s participation, and combine these with its own make of control equipment to deliver a combined-cycle system that recovers exhaust heat using steam turbines to boost power generation efficiency.
