Instrumentation, solutions and services supplier Endress + Hauser’s Promag H 100 electromagnetic flowmeter has been widely adopted by the South African food and beverage, as well as life sciences, industries, since its introduction to the market.

Promag H 100 is a multivariable measurement instrument for flow, temperature and conductivity.

“The Promag H 100 is the ideal sensor for hygienic applications with the highest requirements. The ultra-compact transmitter provides full performance on the smallest footprint and allows for seamless system integration, making Promag H 100 the preferred choice for skid builders, equipment manufacturers and system integrators,” says Endress + Hauser product manager Vernon Moodley.

Further, Heartbeat Technology, when used in conjunction with the Promag H 100 ensures compliance and process safety at all times, he adds.

The Promag H 100 range combines proven sensor technology with compact transmitter electronics. As a multivariable flowmeter, the Promag 100 range also allows for the optimal controlling and monitoring of individual process units, including for heating, cooling, distillation, fermentation in bioreactors, product filtration, phase separation and inline cleaning.

“Flow measurement is achieved using the standard Faraday principle, and conductivity by measuring the conductivity between the measuring electrodes and the reference electrode,” Moodley explains.

Fluid temperature and temperature compensated conductivity can be measured using an integrated Pt1000 temperature sensor.

The Promag H 100 also allows for fluid conductivity and the temperature of the fluid to be measured directly, consequently allowing for the comprehensive and highly accurate monitoring of the flow process 24/7, with multiple benefits.

These include the accurate measurement and dosing of substance amounts, assured compliance with industry guidelines and regulations, as well as the reduction of operating costs using proven, space-saving measuring devices.

Notably, all Promag H 100 measuring devices are tested and certified to accredited, fully traceable calibration standards, including those of the International Standards Organisation, and International Electrotechnical Commission IEC 17025.

Further, the Promag H and Promag P sensor are available in different equipment packages, allowing for their being matched optimally to process conditions. These variants include corrosion-resistant linings made of perfluoroalkoxy alkanes or polytetrafluoroethylene, various measuring electrodes made of acid-resistant materials or sterilisation- and clean-in-place-compatible seals for the Promag H 100.

Moodley concludes that Promag sensors offer full functionality in limited spaces while measuring multiple process variables, with traceable accuracy and a long record of proven performance in the field.
