Electromagnetic survey defines multiple drill targets at Tanzania project
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Multiple conductive targets have been identified at Aim-listed Armadale’s Mahenge Liandu graphite project, in south-east Tanzania.
This followed electromagnetic (EM) surveys conducted at the project as part of the company’s preparations for drilling, which is expected to get under way in six to eight weeks.
Numerous conductive targets were identified over a strike length of 2.6 km at the primary Liandu prospect.
Armadale expanded the survey area to include a second zone of graphite schist unit, which was mapped to the west of the previously known mineralisation – this western zone has an EM anomaly with a 3.7 km strike length, which remained open to the south.
Outcropping mineralisation in this new area was visually observed to have similar
grades to the primary Liandu prospect.
Geological mapping was ongoing at the project and the design of the drilling programme was well advanced.
“Having recently completed the acquisition of Mahenge Liandu, we are delighted to have already identified prospective targets for drilling, underpinning our fast-paced development strategy,” said chairperson William Frewen.
He added that recent rock chip sampling highlighted high-grade graphite mineralisation of up to 33.8% total graphite content (TGC), which supported recent drill results of 60 m at 10.7% TGC, including 24 m at 12.9% TGC and 5m at 21.5% TGC.
Frewen added that the company was now focused on finalising its drill programme to further define the resource potential at Mahenge Liandu.
