Pumps distributor Verder Pumps South Africa has appointed pipes manufacturer and supplier Flo-Tek Nelspruit as its exclusive pumps distributor in Nelspruit and surrounding areas.

This comes after it realised that its major gross domestic product contributors for Mpumalanga comprise 21.8% for mining; 13% for wholesale retail, catering and accommodation; 12% for manufacturing; 10.8% for general government services; and 9.4% for finance, real estate and business.

Flo-Tek established its presence in Nelspruit in 2016 but has been operating in South Africa since its launch in Botswana in 1998.

Verder Pumps MD Darryl Macdougall says the company is pleased to bring Flo-Tek on board as its distribution partner, as Flo-Tek holds valuable market knowledge that supports the pump company’s business growth and expansion plans within the region. He adds that Mpumalanga and its capital city Nelspruit present significant growth opportunities for the business, especially as the key economic contributors to the region fall within infrastructure development or industrial and consumer market sectors.

Flo-Tek branch manager Catherine Mare states that Flo-Tek service a range of customers and each of its customers cannot afford the potential high cost of losses in productivity, operational efficiencies and the costs of equipment churn that can be caused by having an inferior pumping solution.

“We are very excited about this partnership. The addition of being able to provide our customers with advanced pumping solutions from Verder enables us to offer customers a complete solution for every type of flow application need customers may have.”

Macdougall highlights that navigating the technical obstacles of selecting the right pumping solutions for specific applications can be complex. He adds that Flo-Tek’s appointment opens opportunities for it to expand its offerings to its customers further. Flo-Tek’s clients comprise government departments, municipalities, State-owned enterprises, mining and construction companies and building material suppliers.

Macdougall says as Verder’s exclusive distribution partner in Nelspruit, Flo-Tek will stock hoses for the VerderFlex pumps range and as the portfolio grows strategic stock will be kept in Nelspruit.

“Flo-Tek will continue to offer after-sales service support to customers for quality and performance assurance,” he concludes.
