Wim de Klerk will step down as CEO and director of ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) on January 31. The board will immediately implement a process to identify a suitable successor.

"On behalf of the board, we would like to thank De Klerk for his leadership during this challenging period. We have made some important progress, notably about the implementation of safeguards on some products to support the sustainability of the domestic industry,” chairperson Mpho Makwana said.

De Klerk joined AMSA as CEO in July 2016.
