Durban-based prepayment solutions group Conlog has established a commercial presence in Midrand, Gauteng, as the first step in its new geolocation expansion strategy.

The group, which was established in Durban in 1965 and is now a subsidiary of JSE-listed Consolidated Infrastructure Group (CIG), aims to eventually roll out several commercial offices around South Africa and across the continent.

“This marks an important chapter in Conlog,” CEO Logan Moodley tells Engineering News, highlighting the first step in the company’s “journey of growth”.

“We are ambitious; we want to grow,” he explains.

Conlog plans to leverage the new Gauteng offices as a base to be closer to customers and venture further into Africa, while it investigates which opportunities to pursue next.

In addition, Conlog Durban plans to embark on an expansion project at its headquarters within the next 18 months.

Conlog currently develops, manufactures and distributes prepaid and smart meters and provides related services, including vending, revenue management, maintenance, support and consultation.

Conlog’s installed base of prepaid meters spans more than 20 countries, with over 70 utilities worldwide using the group’s solutions.

Late in 2016, CIG acquired Conlog from Schneider Electric for R850-million to extend its primary electricity infrastructure operation and further diversify earnings.
