Company appointed as Japanese product distributor in SA
Tokyo-based temperature and humidity-control speciality products designer and manufacturer Shimaden appointed local industrial instrumentation and process control supplier Indecon Instrumentation as its South African product distributor in May.
Indecon Instrumentation managing member Bennie de Reuck tells Engineering News that Shimaden’s product range has been “extremely well received by the local market to date”.
Shimaden’s product range includes temperature and humidity sensors, signal converters, comparator units, process indicators, proportional integral-derivative and programmable ramp controllers, thyristor power regulators, solid-state relays and servo controllers.
De Reuck states that these products are being used in several sectors in Southern Africa, including the chemicals, petrochemicals, food and beverage, automotive and plastics industries.
He adds that the Shimaden products are predominantly used for high-accuracy temperature control and profiling.
Moreover, De Reuck asserts that Shimaden’s high-quality product offering cost about 50% less than the closest competitor product range.
Product Specifications
De Reuck notes that the Shimaden Series SR90 digital controller has multi-input and multi-range performance.
He points out that the controller’s large 20 mm bright display enables operators to read it from 2 m to 3 m away.
Further, the Shimaden Digital Controller also has a dust and splash-proof front panel.
Additionally, he says the Shimaden Series FP23 programmable controller range features include a two-channel controller; an independent two-loop and two-input operations control, with a high measurement accuracy of about 0.1% of a femtosecond; a high sampling cycle of 0.1 seconds; and a maximum of 400 programmable steps.
