South Africa’s third-largest mobile operator Cell C has appointed independent cellular telecommunications company GloCell as its new service agent for its newly acquired subscriber base from unbundled independent service provider Altech Autopage.

GloCell, which already specialised in the provision of Cell C contracts, would be tasked with taking over and rebranding many of Autopage’s stores nationally from March.

Cell C last week successfully secured Competition Tribunal approval to buy out its subscriber base from Autopage as it started to wind up its business.

“Cell C is pleased to extend its relationship with GloCell. We know the customers migrating from Altech Autopage will be well looked after by GloCell based on its good record of service excellence,” Cell C CEO Jose Dos Santos said in a statement on Monday.

GloCell also supplied and distributed network prepaid and virtual products to banks, petroleum companies, major retailers and wholesalers, besides others.
