Established in 1929, Bibby Turboflex South Africa is a supplier of power transmission flexible couplings and torque-limiting products.

Its product range includes gear couplings, grid spring couplings, disc couplings, torque limiters and safety elements, backstops, Marland low-speed holdbacks, Marland Cecon and Cebmag clutches, Westcar RotoFluid fluid couplings and rigid flange couplings.
Originally known as Wellman Bibby, the ten-employee company is wholly owned by the UK’s Bibby Transmissions, which is part of the Altra Industrial Motion group, of the US.

The company, whose premises are located in Boksburg, on Gauteng’s East Rand, imports most of the products it supplies. However, it designs and manufactures the Turboflex disc couplings that are part of its product range. It is also capable of adapting standard products to special applications.

The contracts the company has clinched in recent times include the supply of Marland low-speed backstops for the new Sasol mines in Mpumalanga and the supply of couplings and backstops to power utility Eskom’s Medupi and Kusile power stations.
