Project Description
The high-speed railway is a major traffic facility for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The railway stretches 174 km from Beijing to Zhangjiakou and will transport 60-million people a year in one direction at speeds ranging from 120 km/h to 350 km/h, and shorten the time between the two cities from more than three hours to one hour.

The railway will have ten stations, five in Beijing – Beijing North, Qinghe, Shahe, Changping, and Badaling Great Wall (underground), and others in Zhangjiakou, including Donghuayuan North (preserved for future use), Huailai, Xiahuayuan North, Xuanhua North and Zhangjiakou South.

The high-speed railway will be built concurrently with the Chongi branch line.

The project is estimated at $9.22-billion.

Duration
The project will be built over four-and-a-half years.

Latest Developments
China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has won the contract for Lot JZSG-7 of the railway project, which involves the construction of 17.63 km of railway, three tunnels with a total length of 11.78 km, five grand, large and medium-size bridges with a total length of 1.76 km, one station and the laying of 23.16 km of ballastless track beds.
