Following this year’s exhibition, BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA will move to a three-year cycle, which means the next fair will be held in 2018.

This decision was made after close consultation with local and international industry representatives who recommended the three-year cycle for the African markets.

Event organiser BC Expo South Africa CEO Elaine Crewe explains that the strategic decision was made based on the many discussions held since the extremely successful premiere in 2013.

The three-year cycle clearly positions BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA as the leading trade fair in Africa for the global construction and mining industry, states Crewe.

Construction and Mining Equipment Suppliers Association (Conmesa) chairperson Lawrence Peters states that the three-year interval suits the region because it depicts the market more accurately.

He notes that it also gives local and international companies additional time to ensure that they are sufficiently prepared for the intense business activity at this event.

Renaming to Represent Partnership

To properly represent the partnership between trade show company Messe München and North America-based international trade group Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the international trade fair event for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles, previously known as bauma Africa, is now known as BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA.

Bauma Africa celebrated a successful premiere with 754 exhibitors from 38 countries and 14 700 visitors from over 100 countries, covering a total of 60 000 m2 of exhibition space and constituting the biggest African event in its sector.

BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA 2015 will take place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre and run from September 15 to 18.

As part of their cooperation on international construction machinery events, Messe München and the AEM announced at bauma Africa 2013 that they intended to set up a joint venture (JV) in Africa. This JV will entail organising the upcoming trade show as BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA.

The event will retain the current successful exhibition team and event CEO.

Messe München MD Eugen Egetenmeir explains that both partners have agreed on the new event name of BAUMA CONEXPO AFRICA.

“The new, joint name reflects the close and trusting cooperation between Messe München and the AEM.”

AEM president Dennis Slater states that Africa offers tremendous opportunities for North American companies in particular.

About Messe München International and AEM

Messe München organises around 40 trade shows for capital and consumer goods and key high-tech industries, with trade shows in Asia, Russia, the Middle East and South Africa.

The AEM is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the US, with offices in Washington DC, in the US, Ottawa, Canada and Beijing, China. It represents more than 900 companies in the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utility sectors.
