The Al-Zour refinery, with a capacity of 615 000 bbl/d, will be the largest refinery in the Middle East once completed.
The refinery will supply fuel for power generation and water desalination facilities in Kuwait and the remainder will be exported.

The project is estimated at $14.5-billion.

The refinery is expected to come on line in 2018.
Latest Developments
Honeywell has been selected by the KNPC to provide the integrated control and safety system (ICSS) for its Al-Zour refinery complex to be built in southern Kuwait. Honeywell will also provide the front-end engineering design (Feed) for the system. As the main automation contractor for the new refinery, Honeywell will supply Experion PKS as the main control system for the refinery complex and integrate all process automation systems throughout the site. In addition, having Honeywell’s process solutions business perform the Feed of the system will help drive consistent designs from other contractors throughout the entire project and assist in speedily completing the project.
