Ain el Sokhna supercritical thermal power plant, Egypt.

Project Description
The project will involve the construction of a 1 300-MW supercritical thermal power plant, in Egypt. The scope of civil works includes the construction of three pipelines, about 5,1 km in length.

Value
The project is valued at $60-million.

Duration
The project is scheduled to be completed in two years.

Client
State-owned entity, East Delta Electricity Production Company.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
OCI Construction/Besix joint venture (construction contract).

Latest Developments
The Egyptian government has secured a loan from the African Development Bank amounting to $450-million. The State also intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to cover eligible payments under the purchase order for the supply of the distributed control systems for the plant.

Besides other work, the contractors will design, fabricate, furnish, shop-test, deliver, supervise the installation, transport to the site, provide on-site technical services and training, place into successful operation, start up and commission the complete distributed control systems, and operate the training simulator, including associated accessories.

Further, East Delta is currently inviting prospective bidders for the package.
