While South Africans are still reeling from recent public spats surrounding Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and the Treasury, he will be joining President Jacob Zuma at a G20 meeting in China next week.

Public spats between Gordhan and the Hawks, Eskom and Denel, along with rumours of a stand-off between the Treasury and the Presidency over SAA, have dominated newspapers in recent weeks.

Zuma and Gordhan - along with International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies and the Deputy Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga - will represent South Africa among 18 other countries in discussions on trade, investments and global governance.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the country’s strategy is outreach to Africa, as well as development.

At this year’s G20 gathering between September 3-5, themed "Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy", leaders will discuss a number of issues, with priority being given to formulating a new growth path, global and economic financial governance, international trade and inclusive development.

Zuma and his delegation will also attend the 2nd Investing in Africa Forum in China once the G20 Summit has been concluded.
