PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Michael Chaney will step down as chairperson of oil and gas producer Woodside Energy at the end of next year’s annual general meeting.

He will be succeeded by Richard Goyder.

Goyder will join the Woodside board as an independent, nonexecutive director and chairperson-elect from August 1.

“It has been a great pleasure to serve as Woodside chairperson and to lead an exceptional board. Goyder will bring a skills set that complements existing expertise and will take over as chairperson at an exciting time for the company as we grow our portfolio in Australia and globally,” said Chaney.

Goyder has been MD and CEO of Wesfarmers since 2005, and will maintain that position until November, when he steps down. He is also a director of Gresham Partners Holdings, the Business Council of Australia, and the University of Western Australia Business School advisory board.
