Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa, a value-added technology distributor of category-leading solutions in Security, Collaboration, Networking, Cloud and Data Centre, is pleased to announce that Rakesh Parbhoo has officially joined the company in the role of CEO of WestconGroup SA, effective 1st August 2017.

Parbhoo joins Westcon-Comstor following an almost 20-year tenure at Dimension Data, where the most recent role he held at the company was that of Chief Information Officer for Dimension Data Middle East & Africa.

“It gives us great pleasure to officially welcome Rakesh to the Southern African office,” states Jeremy Butt, EVP for EMEA at Westcon-Comstor.

“With his extensive knowledge of the African business landscape, his indepth knowledge of technology, and his proven business track record in the region, we believe that he will be able to perform a strategic role in assisting the region to continue on its business transformation towards not only being a value-added distributor, but a digitally disruptive and digitally relevant one too.”

Parbhoo originally joined Dimension Data in 1998 as a product manager, following which he progressed through the company ranks, holding both sales and service management roles, until 2006 when he was appointed Managing Director for Dimension Data East Africa. He was later appointed the company’s Executive for Emerging Markets, where he was directly responsible for operations outside of South Africa, across Middle East & Africa.

“I am honoured to join the Westcon-Comstor group. I am very fortunate after a great career at Dimension Data to be part of a new chapter, both for me personally, and for the Westcon-Comstor group. Not only is the company a globally relevant distribution company, but a significant player on the African continent,” states Parbhoo.

“I believe that as the Southern African operation we can look to grow our capability within this region even further. The key focus for me will be to ensure we provide increased value to our customers and partners, particularly as we drive our value added promise through services and our unique approach to cloud through our BlueSky platform.

It’s a wonderful team to be part of and an exciting time in the industry and I am very fortunate to play a role in it.”
