Wesgro board appointed
Western Cape Economic Opportunities Minister Alan Winde has appointed new board members for the province’s trade and investment promotion agency, Wesgro.
Former Pentech vice-chancellor Professor Brian Figaji has been appointed to lead the 14-person board, which would be tasked with providing strategic leadership for the agency, for the next three years.
“Boosting tourism and increasing international trade will be key goals for the Western Cape in the next few years. I believe the members of this board have the attributes and experience needed to ensure that Wesgro plays a key role in delivering this mandate.
“Tourism and trade are important tools to create jobs for residents in this province and that is my number one priority,” said Winde.
The other members of the board are Paul Bannister, Ian Bartes, Andrea Böhmert, Professor Haroon Bhorat, David Green, Anthony Peter Hurst, Bulelwa Makalima-Ngewana, Michael Spicer, Chris Whelan, Francois Schippers, Wessie van der Westhuizen, Solly Fourie, Tim Harris and Wesgro CEO Nils Flaatten.
