Attacq Limited, (Attacq), the JSE listed property company developing Waterfall City and Waterfall Logistics Hub took home two prestigious awards at this year’s South African Property Owners Association Awards for Innovative Excellence. Attacq won the award for Best  Commercial Office Development for the iconic PwC Tower and the Best Industrial Development award for the BMW Regional Distribution Centre.

The SAPOA Awards for Innovative Excellence is an annual event, which seeks to recognize significant contributions made through innovation and excellence within the property sector. Although functional aesthetic appeal is a pivotal requirement for entrants, the holistic approach of the awards evaluates various designs, innovation and efficiency elements, such as social transformation, overall impact, environmentally sustainable design, design industry and community perception and interiors that ensure the local commercial real estate sector is on par with international standards.

Waterfall’s iconic PwC tower was awarded top honours in the Commercial Office Development category “The 26-storey PwC Tower is a symbol of excellence in the flagship Waterfall City development, and we are immensely proud of what has been achieved with this development. We are thrilled that it has been recognised by a leading organisation like SAPOA for its excellence,” says Melt Hamman, CEO of Attacq.

Located between Midrand and Woodmead, off the Allandale interchange on the N1 highway, the R1.7-billion skyscraper comprising 45 223 m² of offices is designed to house approximately 3 500 PwC employees in an efficient and modern workplace.

“As a multi-national company that prides itself in meeting international quality standards, we are proud to call this iconic building home,” said PwC COO, Fulvio Tonelli.

Taking home, the award for Best Industrial Development was BMW’s ultra-modern Regional Distribution Centre (RDC). The German automobile and motorcycle manufacturer’s new facility comprises a 32 000 m2 building with its own tyre store, battery changing facilities and a state-of-the-art hazardous store.

“We designed BMW’s RDC keeping in mind their need to improve overall efficiency and competitiveness. We went to great lengths to ensure that the building’s look and feel was both functional and aesthetically appealing. The final product has proven to be an exceptionally well-designed building - we couldn’t be prouder,” Says Jonathan Leibowitz, Espaces Architects CEO.

“These two awards serve as further proof of Waterfall bourgeoning status as Gauteng’s premier business node. Our willingness to push the design envelope continues to set us apart and position us as one of South Africa’s leading property developers.  A great big thank you to all our partners. We truly appreciate the industry recognition,” concludes Melt Hamman, Attacq CEO.
