The Waterfall mixed-use property development has already built or secured developments valued at R7-billion, with many of its first phase projects already operational.

The flagship R4.1-billion, 120 000 m2 Mall of Africa, at the centre of Waterfall City, would be completed by April 2016 and has seen 1.1-million cubic metres of material removed, 50 000 m3 of concrete cast and 7 300 t of reinforcing used, with 1 200 people on site.

Much of the removed material, of which 350 000 m3 was rock, was being reused for landscaping and construction.

Further, the 9 000 m2 Waterfall Corner and 7 500 m2 Waterfall Lifestyle developments, on the northern corners of Maxwell and Kyalami roads, were already completed and operating.

“Some 22 property developments have been secured, with 11 complete and the remainder to be completed over the next 20 months,” said capital fund management company and project funder Attacq CEO Morne Wilken.

The Maxwell Office Park, in Waterfall City, hosted Attacq’s head office, as well as Premier Foods, Cipla, Waterfall project developer Atterbury, Golder &Associates and Bakgatla Tshipi, and would also host automotive manufacturer Honda later this year.

Telecommunications provider Cell C’s R770-million consolidated head office, including a 14 000 m2 distribution warehouse, construction firm Group Five’s R500-million five-star green star-rated consolidated head office, empowered information technology distribution company MB Technologies’ headquarters and warehouse, and retail giant Massmart’s Massbuild distribution campus were already operational.
