South African water filtration, rainwater harvesting and storage tank solutions company JoJo Tanks says that it manufactures products specifically designed to withstand the harsh African climate.

The ultraviolet-stabilised outer layer is an inert material that is designed to prevent harmful radiation from penetrating and weakening the bonds of the polythene. The colour pigments used in the production of the tanks are said to have excellent weather- and light-fastness properties, allowing for them to be used outdoors for many years without any fading and bleaching of the colour.

100% recyclable virgin linear low density polyethylene is used in the tanks’ manufacture. A black inner layer helps prevents algae growth to keep the water fresher for longer and a bisphenol A-free, food-grade layer prevents leaching of harmful chemicals and protects the quality of the water.

Greater thickness at the bottom of the JoJo tank provides the required strength to withstand the pressure from the liquid stored, further enhancing its durability. Closely spaced ribs at the bottom and no vertical joints or weak points in the layers also add strength.

The tanks are built to the SANS 1731:2017 standard, which was developed in conjunction with the South African Bureau of Standards to offer a warranty that ensures tank manufacturers conform to best practice.

The company says that it maintains its position as a leader in the South African market because its products are both cost-effective and durable. To ensure the tanks allow for the highest standards of water hygiene and harvesting, the company asserts that it adheres to stringent, consistent production standards.

The tanks are available in a range of colours to suit specific applications, preferences and aesthetic requirements.

“Our advice when choosing a tank is to consider what application you will need it for, and the space you have. We offer a wide range of tanks, from vertical to horizontal, with capacities ranging from 260 l to 20 000 l,” said JoJo executive of sales, marketing and distribution Sebasti Badenhorst
