Deputy Water and Sanitation Minister Pamela Tshwete on Thursday launched the Magalies Water Services Laboratory, in Brits, in the North West.

The laboratory is set to provide services ranging from water quality testing and sampling, research and monitoring of drinking water supplies, process monitoring of water and wastewater works, as well as environmental monitoring of rivers and dams.

During the ceremony, Tshwete said the laboratory would benefit residents in the Madibeng local municipality by enhancing the supply of quality drinking water.

She also emphasised that the varied and extensive services to be sourced from the laboratory would assist municipalities with quicker responses to outcomes of the Blue and Green Drop Reports as they unfold.
