The new products include the micro fine drum screening pipeline systems, vertical screening for deep pipelines and dredging equipment for ponds.

The rotating fine drum screen is used for removal and micro screening of solids from fluids for a variety of applications. Applications include any wastewater, industrial process or filtration system, which requires the removal of fine solid material from wastewater.

SAME Water's rotating fine drum screen is able to remove fine solid material, ranging in size from 0,25 mm to 3 mm, from wastewater. The material, once removed, is mechanically discharged into a materials handling system for further processing. The screen has a number of other applications.

These include industrial enterprises where environmental legislation places constraints on waste disposal, the food industry, especially fresh produce processing such as the canning and freezing of fruit and vegetables, the meat, poultry and fish industry, particularly abattoirs, slaughter houses and fish processing factories, breweries and wineries and wastewater treatment plants.

The wastewater to be treated flows through the inlet pipe to feed the basin, which insures that the waste water flows equally over the entire surface of the rotating filtering cylinder. The waste particles in the wastewater are caught by the slow rotating filtering cylinder, which rotates the waste towards the scraper blade. The waste is then discharged through the chute system for further processing. The filtered wastewater flows through the spacing of the filtering cylinder into the collection basin and through the outlet pipe.

In the event of power failure or of equipment repair, the feed basin has an emergency overflow system that directs the flow directly into the outlet pipeline.

In the centre of the filtering cylinder there is a spray system that assists in the internal cleaning of the filtering cylinder.

Another new product from SAME Water is the vertical screw screen compactor. The screen zone consists of a filtration screen basket with perforated holes and a vertical screw with brushes to clean the filtration screen during the rotation of the spiral. The screw is supported at the top discharge end by a parallel shaft gearbox. The screw drives the waste from the screen basket through a cone then vertically up through a discharge tube.

The cone of the vertical screw screen compactor is manufactured in two parts for easy maintenance. The tube of the product has replaceable wear bars fixed inside to guide the vertical lift spiral, which conveys the waste to the compaction zone The compaction zone consists of a circular screen mesh wedge wire and compaction plate and this presses the waste solid out of the discharge chute for further processing.

The liquid return pipe from the compacting zone guides the compacted wastewater back to the waste water pipeline. Within the compaction zone there is a washing system and the clean water wash line is fitted with manual valve to isolate when necessary.

Imvubu is SAME Water's dredging equipment for ponds. The product is a ground sludge removal system designed specifically for African conditions and allows for the easy, economical and remote controlled removal of sludge.

The dynamic floating traveling device moves slowly through a sedimentation basin to collect and pump settled sludge and has a number of characteristics. The body of water need not be drained for the Imvubu to work and the equipment's gentle motion does not disturb settled sludge. It allows for easy and economical sludge disposal, is easy and flexible to operate and sludge can be removed to a depth of four metres.

The Imvubu equipment has a number of applications. These include pond treatment plants, effluent polishing plants, storm water retention tanks, fish ponds or hatcheries, fire-fighting water ponds, industrial systems with processed water and park ponds and lakes.

SAME Water marketing manager Frank Schulz says that the company will be marketing three new products for the 2008 period. These include micro fine screens for channel, compactor washers for screening waste on wastewater plants and sludge handling equipment for small to medium wastewater and industrial plants.

The company, collaborates with several large European suppliers to ensure that the design and manufacture of its equipment is based on the latest technology. SAME Water acts as an agent for a number of European principals and has agents in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Mauritius.
