JSE-listed Vodacom on Thursday said that, effective immediately, Paolo Bertoluzzo would step down as nonexecutive director to take up a post as CEO for Vodafone Southern Europe.

Further, nonexecutive director Karen Witts also resigned from the board after accepting a position at another FTSE top 100 firm, Vodacom said in a statement.

Vodafone Turkey CEO Serpil Timuray and Vodafone CFO for the Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific region John Otty were appointed to the board with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, outgoing Vodacom South Africa CEO Pieter Uys stepped down from the board effective Thursday and would be replaced by incoming CEO Shameel Aziz-Joosub, who was also appointed Vodacom South Africa MD.
