London-headquartered downstream petroleum company Vivo Energy has appointed CEO-designate Stan Mittelman to the official position of CEO effective March 3.

He succeeds Christian Chammas, who plans to retire in a few months’ time. Chammas is available to support Mittelman in the coming months as part of an orderly succession process.

Mittelman has more than 30 years’ experience in the downstream energy industry, particularly on the African continent.

He has led the fuel retailing and marketing businesses of TotalEnergies across 40 countries in Africa, as well as served as CEO of Total Marketing France and as MD for Total Zimbabwe.

Vivo operates and markets products across a network of 2 400 service stations, under the Shell and Engen brands, in 23 African countries.
