Provider of unified collaborative communications Polycom has added HDX7K equipment to its video conferencing segment, specifically to cater to the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector.

Polycom offers a wide range of audio and video conferencing solutions from the home worker or remote office all the way up to the large enterprise. Special research and development has been undertaken to develop simple yet powerful products to fit the SME space without overspending. Other products that are specifically tailored to the SME market include the VS500 and SS2 in the audio conferencing segment, and the VSX5K and VSX6K in the video conferencing segment.

Polycom’s regional sales man- ager, Dan Engel, states that size should not be an issue in a business’s quest for better productivity. He believes that any business can benefit from implementing improved technology solutions.

“Business is done between people, and technology is there to bring people closer and bridge any gap. Conferencing and collaboration applications provide both hard, quantifiable benefits and many soft, difficult-to-measure benefits,” he continues.

“Indeed, conferencing and collaboration solutions have finally joined the ranks of the telephone and email as core business tools that global enterprises and SMEs alike need to possess, to compete in today’s competitive marketplace.”

Engel believes that even if a company is an SME, it should not affect its technology investment or selection. “Most, if not all, SMEs would like to see continued growth through investing in a strong communications platform, to provide immediate benefits that will allow this growth as the company evolves and transforms.”

Polycom is a worldwide provider of unified collaborative communications, aimed at increasing the efficiency and productivity of people and organisations. It offers a selection of high-definition telepresence video, wired and wireless voice and content solutions.
