Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) has launched a new driver and truck management system at the Durban Terminals to promote and improve on terminal security and safekeeping of customer cargo within premises.

Customers and trucking companies have started registering their drivers on the new electronic database, which has replaced the manual security verification process.

The new system will ensure the driver and truck allocated to either drop off of pick up goods at the terminals matches what the system states, including the driver’s biometric validation.

Customers now have an opportunity to manage profiles in the event a different driver or truck is allocated that day. The system is also designed to ensure security checks are completed and passed prior to the entering or exiting of the terminals.

TPT adds that the accuracy in records of all trucks and drivers calling the terminals may be the biggest benefit in the event that there are investigations of incidents within the terminal environment.

The registration platform can be found at https://dtms.transnet.net/ for companies contracted to collect or deliver cargo at the Durban Terminals.
