South African State-owned freight logistics group Transnet on Friday announced that it had strengthened its management team through the appointment of three new group executives.

Current Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) COO Herbert Msagala was appointed Transnet Capital Projects (TCP) group executive, to succeed current group executive Charl Möller who would retire at the end of August.

“At capital projects – our specialist engineering and project management specialist unit – Herbert will be in charge of Transnet’s major infrastructure projects. His key focus will be the completion and delivery of our projects on time and on budget, while strengthening TCP’s role as Transnet’s centre of excellence in engineering and project management,” Transnet said in a statement.

Msagala would be succeeded as TNPA COO by current Transnet office of the group chief executive (GCE) GM Phyllis Difeto.

Current Transnet monitoring and reporting GM Shulami Qalinge would succeed Difeto as office of the GCE GM.

Meanwhile, Transnet also appointed current group financial planning GM Thabo Lebelo as Transnet property group executive.

Lebelo would now be in charge of Transnet’s portfolio of residential and commercial properties, including key assets such as the Carlton Centre – the company’s head office.

“He will focus on optimising our vast property portfolio and integrating its service offering in line with [Transnet's] Market Demand Strategy,” the group noted.

Further, it also confirmed Ndiphiwe Silinga as legal and compliance group executive, a position he had been acting in for the past month.

Transnet said Silinga was responsible for the company's legal matters.
