Transnet appoints chief information officer

Transnet has appointed Makano Mosidi chief information officer (CIO), effective June 1.

Mosidi will report to group CE Siyabonga Gama in line with the group’s objective of ensuring that digitalisation is central to driving innovation efficiency and cost effectiveness across all operations. She is specifically tasked with enabling the Transnet business to standardise and rationalise the information technology (IT) environment in its railways, ports and pipelines business.
 
Digitalisation is one of Transnet's main strategic thrusts as the group accelerates the implementation of its Market Demand Strategy. Driving innovation and developing creative solutions to the company’s business challenges is central to this objective.
 
Mosidi has considerable experience in the information and communications technology sector and has previously served as Dimension Data’s CIO for Middle East and Africa, as well as COO and acting CE of the State Information Technology Agency.
 
She holds a Bcom degree in financial accounting and computer science and is pursuing a master’s degree in commerce.
