SA Paint Manufacturing Association  (0.04 MB)

Paints and Coatings Manufacturers Nigeria Plc , based in Lagos, has become the first Nigerian member of the SA Paint Manufacturing Association. A major producer and distributor for some of the world’s leading brands, Nigerian Stock Exchange listed PCMN Plc, has grown steadily since it started operations in 2001 and now wants to extend its influence to beyond Nigerian borders to the rest of Africa.

Boasting full manufacturing and distribution facilities, and offering locally manufactured, industry-leading products, the company is compliant to world quality standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 18001: 2007. It currently produces protective and marine coating systems under licence from International Paints (a member of top global brand, the Akzo Nobel Group). Also included in its range of globally respected decorative and architectural paints is the company’s new decorative range, PROMA, launched this year. “We are also a partner, committed to working with clients to understand their needs and find a customised solution to suit each requirement,” says PCMN Plc CEO, Mike Thompson. “In addition to paints and coatings systems, we manufacture specialised flooring and wall coating systems under licence from Resin Building Products UK. Our partnership with this British manufacturer enables us to offer world-class flooring coatings, acid lining systems, as well as specialised flooring and wall systems for FMCG, pharmaceutical and other industries.”

Like SAPMA, the Nigerian company is committed to skills development and was recently appointed as Nigeria’s sole training provider for the Institute of Corrosion Applicator Training Scheme, ICATS. PCMN Plc will be opening its own Paint Training School for the decorative and industrial marketplace to uplift and develop the skills of Nigerian contracting and DIY enthusiasts. Deryck Spence, executive director of SAPMA, says the Association welcomes PCMN Plc to its “growing African family”, which includes members in countries such as Mauritius, Namibia and Swaziland. “SAPMA proposes to introduce interactive video training in both coatings technology and retailing skills in the near future and this would obviously be accessible, and of benefit to, all African countries. Furthermore, SAPMA and the Oil and Colour Chemists’ Association will be staging Coatings for Africa 2015, in Johannesburg next year: the biggest showcase of coatings technology paint and related products on the African continent. The major exhibition and symposium will take place from May 11 to 11 next year – and is likely to draw more African delegates and exhibitors than ever before,” Spence states.
