The first residents of Sibaya Coastal Precinct are officially taking occupation of their brand new residences in OceanDune, and the lights are effectively on in the highly anticipated Precinct which is developing at a rapid rate along the M4!

Tongaat Hulett Development Executive, Dayalan Chetty says, “Our first residents moving into OceanDune is a significant milestone for us and it truly brings to life the vision Tongaat Hulett has had for this magnificent land asset.  After the planning for the Precinct being ten years in the making, the project is developing at pace and has met with interest from all over the country and beyond.”

OceanDune is Sibaya Coastal Precinct’s first residential development and offers luxury apartments. With unobstructed sea, forest and inland views over indigenous forests with discreet security and sophisticated interiors, it’s a prime example of the unique and integrated lifestyle on offer in this first-of-a-kind mixed-use development.

OceanDune is one of a number of developments that will be offering residential opportunities as part of the 1 042 hectare Sibaya Coastal Precinct. Seamlessly connected to its natural surroundings and the adjacent towns of uMhlanga and eMdloti, the Precinct includes 300 hectares of indigenous forest and a seven kilometre stretch of pristine coastline between the two lagoons, with only 40 percent of the total area allocated to a built environment that will eventually lay claim to the hilltops. The remaining land will be rehabilitated and preserved through the Sibaya Coastal Forest Reserve. On completion, the Development is anticipated to offer an integrated, connected community featuring residential, schools, tertiary education, retirement and corporate, retail, leisure and hospitality offerings.

Pamela Naidu from ID Realty, the sales and marketing team for Ocean Dune, said the handovers that took place from the middle of April were met with great excitement as owners were given the keys to their new apartments. Phase two of the residential handover commenced from the end of July, with the third handover phase for the retail section and the final residential component scheduled for the third quarter of this year.

Steve Evans and Rene Wilkins are amongst the first residents to move in, “We chose OceanDune because of its location close to major hubs, easy access to the airport, modern and high-end appeal and excellent road network,” says Steve. Both Rene and Steve are enjoying the lifestyle that goes with living within Sibaya Coastal Precinct.

Tongaat Hulett Developments Managing Director, Michael Deighton said, “As a prime element of Durban’s vision for liveable urban development on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, Sibaya Coastal Precinct will have long lasting social, economic and environmental benefits for the province as the new precinct takes shape. The successful uMhlanga Precinct which began some 20 years ago is an excellent example of the significant positive effects carefully considered urban planning and development can have for the province, and Sibaya Coastal Precinct will continue to build on this platform.”
