JSE-listed Telkom will appoint a MD for its mobile division as part of a restructuring of the unit’s leadership team, the group said on Thursday.
Group CEO Nombulelo Moholi said in a statement the mobile business has matured and was geared to offer several new propositions.
“Delivery on our mobile investment features high on the corporate agenda. It is an appropriate time to reconfigure the Telkom Mobile top leadership team,” she said.
In line with this, Telkom initiated a process to appoint a MD who will be an executive committee member of the Telkom group.
In the interim, the Telkom Mobile executive team will report to CFO Jacques Schindehütte, while Amith Maharaj continued to head up Telkom Mobile’s operations as the newly promoted senior managing executive.
Telkom said that Maharaj would be responsible for mobile information technology and networks, as well as mobile marketing, which included product development, the go-to-market strategy and convergence services.
