Telkom launches single number solution
Telecommunications group Telkom’s business arm has unveiled a new service that will enable Telkom Business customers to answer calls anywhere and from any phone.
The Single Number service links a landline telephone number to multiple mobile and fixed-line phones, allowing prospective and current clients to contact the businessperson on the move at any time.
The service, which transfers calls to any number even if cable theft or weather disconnects the host landline, features a simultaneous ringing option, allowing all connected phones to ring at the same time.
Telkom Business will charge customers a R30 one-off activation fee, with monthly subscriptions starting at R99.
Calls answered by a business on any linked phone within the Telkom network – mobile or landline – are included in the price.
Those calling the business will be charged standard call rates, while businesses linking other network operators’ mobiles to the Single Number service will be charged standard rates on answering the call.
Telkom customers can also add and remove phones easily through a self-service portal, said Telkom Business MD Johann Henning.
The ability to access calls from anywhere would boost productivity and maximise opportunities, he added.
“We recognise that a lot of business happens on the move. It is, therefore, imperative that decision-makers and representatives of the company are always reachable. This solution will allow all employees in an organisation to remain efficient and productive no matter where they are operating,” said Henning.
