Latest Developments
NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System and Alstom have signed a contract worth more than €90-million for the signalling project.
The contract includes the control of the trams that will travel along the Red Line, including coordination with the road traffic lights system, as well as the transfer to automatic driving in the tunnels.
Alstom will supply the upgraded Urbalis 400 CBTC system.
Urbalis has flexible and scalable control system architecture, based on the moving-block principle, which safely optimises available rail network capacity, and allows for mixed-mode operation, such as the Red Line combination of tunnels and interface to road traffic, at grade.
