Sukari Q3 output up 13% y/y
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Centamin’s Sukari mine, in Egypt, produced 105 413 oz of gold in the three months to September 30 – a 13% year-on-year increase.
Centamin CEO Andrew Pardey said on Thursday that the company would maintain its full-year production guidance at 430 000 oz to 440 000 oz.
“Quarterly production was comparable with the first- and second-quarter results and in line with our forecast for the period. We continue to expect further throughput increases as optimisation continues over the coming quarters,” he added.
Quarterly throughput at the Sukari process plant was 2 673 t, in line with expectations and in excess of the plant’s ten-million-ton-a-year nameplate capacity.
Pardey said openpit material movement had increased by 5% quarter-on-quarter to 14.34-million tons, while openpit ore production rose 26% quarter-on-quarter to 2.2-million tons.
The run-of-mine ore stockpile balance decreased by 297 000 t to 1.03-million tons at the end of the period. Additionally, the underground operation delivered 312 000 t of ore – an 11% quarter-on-quarter increase.
