Steel manufacturer donates hall to KZN community
Inkatha Freedom Party president and Buthelezi clan chieftain Mangosuthu Buthelezi officially opened the Goqo community hall, in KwaZulu-Natal, in December last year. The hall was donated to the Buthelezi Traditional Council by steel, tube and pipe manufacturer Robor.
“The most remarkable achievements happen when people join hands with a shared vision and the will to make a difference. That is what happened here in Goqo between the Ulundi municipality, the Ulundi municipality deputy mayor William Ntshangase and a group of socially minded businesspeople at Robor,” said Buthelezi at the opening.
He added that it was his privilege, as the head of the Buthelezi clan, on behalf of the Buthelezi Traditional Council, to express the clan’s “profound appreciation” to everyone involved in seeing this community hall built in Goqo.
“For decades, this has been open land. But, today, a brand-new building opens its doors and welcomes in members of this community,” said Buthelezi.
Robor partnered with Pietermaritzburg-based construction company Gonal Construction to build the community hall. Additional contributions were made by coatings manufacturer Kansai Plascon, cement supplier PPC, water storage tank manufacturer JoJo Tanks, and the Ulundi municipality.
“Today, we have been given the example of what can be achieved when people of goodwill work together. I want to thank Robor as a company and the individuals within Robor who are driving its corporate social investments,” Buthelezi concluded.
