Since its establishment 33 years ago, Apex Strip Curtains & Doors has advanced steadily from a company that supplies only the South African market to become a growing concern that sells an increasing array of its products to a number of other African countries, including Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Angola.

Operating off a well-established customer base in South Africa, Apex Strip Curtains & Doors supplies PVC strip curtains, insulated impact traffic swing doors, roll-up and fold-up high speed doors, roller blinds and cabinet curtains for refrigerated display cabinets, as well as welding and safety screens. These high quality products are available in standard configurations, or are custom manufactured to suit individual requirements. A network of agents throughout South Africa ensures excellent installation and technical support, as well as quick delivery times.

Apex Strip Curtains & Doors was the first company to locally manufacture general purpose PVC strip curtaining in South Africa, a system that can be retrofitted or used in greenfields installations.

“Our success and growth has been built on an intimate knowledge of application requirements and the ability to customise installations to suit individual customers. All our products are manufactured to international standards,” Wim Dessing senior, managing director of Apex Strip Curtains & Doors, says. “As the economies of several African countries begin to show signs of improvement, we’ve been able to realise a number of opportunities to introduce our products, particularly in the industrial arena.

“And, with these increasing orders, we’re noticing a definite trend among these new customers where they initially install our strip curtains and then begin to recognise the complementary role our doors can play at their facilities. This is generating definite growth beyond our historic customer base here in South Africa.”

With large volumes of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in warehouses, retail stores and food manufacturing facilities, the associated ingress of unwanted elements is a given. High quality PVC strip curtains offer an affordable and viable solution for a number of applications. Strip curtains are an inexpensive way to protect a door opening with a robust thermal seal that will prevent the ingress of hot air yet still allow easy passage for both personnel and vehicular traffic.

Apex Strip Curtains & Doors PVC strip curtains with the patented Balledge® design are equally at home in the food, pharmaceutical and heavy engineering industries, acting as an effective control mechanism against various foreign elements. The strips are transparent, allowing unimpaired visibility which eliminates accidental collisions between pedestrians and vehicles, while the specially formulated PVC is durable for extended longevity.

Doors
Reliability is an important factor in the choice of doors for warehousing applications and, to this end, the wide range of doors available from Apex Strip Curtains & Doors is manufactured in accordance with global standards, using materials that comply with stringent hygiene and safety criteria.

Dessing comments that high speed doors are no longer considered an optional extra, but have become an increasing necessity in applications where doors need to be opened for limited periods to facilitate loading and offloading of vehicles. Unlike the conventional roller shutter door, high speed doors are quick and easy to open, significantly improving productivity and enhancing supply chain activities. High speed roll-up and fold-up doors are suitable for a wide variety of applications, but are particularly suited to warehousing areas. These doors do not hinder personnel, forklift or vehicular traffic and, depending on the actual operation, can be either automatically or manually controlled.

The company markets heavy duty insulated impact traffic doors suitable for high use areas in food processing, wash down areas, manufacturing, cold storage, restaurants, supermarkets, distribution and many other industrial, commercial and retail applications.

The Apex SR 9000 insulated impact traffic door is a fully gasketed heavy duty impact swing door, locally manufactured to customers’ specific requirements. Lightweight but robust, this door is engineered to withstand heavy traffic and impact.
