Star Alliance, Plug and Play partner to develop start-ups
Global airline alliance Star Alliance has teamed up with start-up accelerator and innovation centre Plug and Play to identify and support relevant start-ups that are developing disruptive technologies in the travel and hospitality industry.
The partnership will see the pair “accompany” the selected start-ups throughout the idea-gathering and development processes towards the creation of new products and technologies for the travel ecosystem.
“An early understanding of future technological and digital trends, coupled with the possibility to participate in the development at an initial stage, will ensure the long-term success of our new digital strategy,” said Star Alliance CEO Jeffrey Goh.
Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play financially supports existing start-ups, provides guidance and mentorship and provides contacts to companies interested in their ideas.
“Partnering with Plug and Play is an important step in our strategy of becoming digitally advanced and delivering seamless travel experiences,” explained Goh.
“Through this partnership, we will introduce [Star Alliance] to the best and brightest start-ups in the travel industry,” added Plug and Play founder and CEO Saeed Amidi.
