Stage 2 load-shedding was expected to take effect from 17:00 on Wednesday, Eskom said.

“The power system was constrained but stable for most of the day today, thus enabling Eskom to perform maintenance without the need for load shedding,” the power utility said in a statement on Wednesday.

“However, due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity due to power station units being on maintenance, Eskom will implement stage 2 load shedding from 17:00 today and this is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.”
